Bhagyashree is a PhD student at University of Colorado Boulder researching on the topic of space weather. She is originally from Mumbai, India. She loves space and everything about it!

Briefly share what you do as part of your job

I analyze data from satellites orbiting around earth to visualize current systems that flow in and out of our upper atmosphere. To do this, I need 3 core skillsets – 1) Ability to visualize concepts in 3D in my mind; 2) Coding / problem solving skills (MATLAB, Python, etc.) 3. Communicate research findings to a broad audience (mostly Sr. scientist)

What Inspired You to Explore STEM?

Watching the night sky, Science and geography class, and NASA news.

What Do You Enjoy Most About Your STEM Career?

Making new discoveries and developing new tools and approaches

What is a STEM fact about your field?

Planets with a magnetic field like Earth also have aurora!
