Whew! Our Impact Denver team has been busy this past month reminiscing about our grade school days, while we learn about Science Fair Fun from the organization’s founder, Wendy Wempe. The biggest takeaway is: never doubt what a passionate individual can do to make a difference. Wendy’s dedication and work ethic to Science Fair Fun is impressive and inspiring. Science Fair Fun’s mission is to create inclusive, equitable and skills-based science and engineering fair experiences for K-12 students.
Wendy has piloted and developed marketing materials and class curriculum that is now ready for wider dissemination through IMPLEMENT Science Fair Fun. She’s looking to our team to clarify, review and advance her strategic budgeting, fundraising and marketing goals. Specifically, we’re focusing on the IMPLEMENT program, which provides a turnkey option for elementary/middle schools wishing to start a science fair. Science Fair Fun’s goal is to be self-sustaining after an initial fundraising effort aimed at implementation and growth. By the 2020/21 academic year, more than 850,000 students, with 75% from schools with greater than 30% free and reduced lunch populations are expected to be engaged with Science Fair Fun. Through these programs, kids from many socio-economic groups will have an opportunity to compete and learn the joys of science.
With science fair planning gearing up this fall, Impact Denver members are also invited to participate as judges during the presentation season, January – February 2019. For more information or to donate, go online to wendyw7.sg-host.com/Invest-In-Us
