My name is Raul Yonagusuku, and I was born in Peru. As a child, I had a lot of fun with my electronic toys (taking them apart to remove the electronic parts and make new toys). Later, I grew up fascinated by computer programming combine with electricity which end me up in a STEM field. That is why I decided my major in Electronic Engineering to became a Process Automation and Control Engineer. I have over 23 years of experience working in different industries, companies, and countries.
What inspired you to explore STEM when you were young?
At school, I had great math teachers who inspired me to love math. I also was a very curious kid trying to figure out how things worked. When I was young, I was able to make connection between my passion and engineering which encouraged me to pursue STEM as my future career.
What do you enjoy most about what you do in your STEM career?
I enjoy working with the latest technology combined with the new advanced process control tools, which help us make our processes more efficient. Also, I like being part of a team that works with people from different backgrounds all over the world.
