Language Spoken: English
My name is Jaylene. I love school and didn’t want to leave. I like being a scientist and learning. I am from a small small town in New Mexico, where I did not even have internet until I was in college! Now, I moved and am still in school. Hoping to one day be a college professor and teach students. I am now working on making a better way to use filters for largescale water filtering.
What inspired you to explore STEM when you were young?
I always worked with my hands and helped those around me build and fix items. I really enjoyed learning about math.
What do you enjoy most about what you do in your STEM career?
I really enjoy that I can use my skillset of working hands on in my experiments. I also get to test things and try to reason why they don’t work the way we expected them to.
What is an interesting fact you would like to share with students about your STEM field?
Failing is normal, its what you learn from failing that makes the next day more interesting and exciting.
