I grew up in Texas but never owned a horse or a cowboy hat. I enjoyed camping and the outdoors which lead me as an adult to Colorado. I am a father of 4 children (and a dog named Taco). Over my career I have gotten to put movies on airplanes, let you track your dog if it gets lost, and help elderly get better treatment with computer software.
What inspired you to explore STEM when you were young?
When I was kid I wanted to be a member of the A-team from a tv show. As I got older I realized I enjoyed computers. Computers were new to classrooms when I was in school. I realized that enjoyed using them, and because of that I quickly learned them. It was nice to be an expert in something at a young age.
What do you enjoy most about what you do in your STEM career?
I enjoy getting to build things that improve peoples life. It doesn’t hurt I get to wear comfortable clothes to work.
What is an interesting fact you would like to share with students about your STEM field?
Because I work on airplanes now, my products have to work at 30K feet at 300 mile per hour
