My name is Amber Pinnell and I live in Thornton, Colorado. I moved to Colorado in 2014 from Missouri, which is where I was born and raised. I live out here with my husband and kiddo, and our dog Hugo. Hugo is a doberman/labrador mix and he’s super friendly. On the weekends we like to play video games together and play a Dungeons and Dragons campaign with a few other friends. One thing I am excited for that is upcoming, is my 5 year anniversary at Charlotte’s Web!
What inspired you to explore STEM when you were young?
I went to a Math and Science camp during the summer of 5th grade (going into 6th) and thought it was one of the most exciting things I had done up until then. We got to build circuits and see things work through our direct input, and it really launched a love for sciences for me. I ended up getting a degree in Biology from Mizzou!
What do you enjoy most about what you do in your STEM career?
I enjoy the process of product development and launching products for sale to consumers. It’s exciting to see how ingredients work together and what tastes the best, and then seeing it come to life. After a product launches, I then work to build efficiencies through data analysis of how production is going and lab testing of the products.
What is a fun, bizarre or insightful STEM fact about your field?
I am learning something new almost everyday. I’ve worked in quality for almost 10 yrs now doing various jobs, and still I am learning! Working in Quality means working in a collaborative environment where you work as a team to solve problems, and there’s always something new to tackle or to improve!
