Leslie Marshall

Executive Director

Leslie has over 10 years of teaching experience, which includes 7 years of STEM education in Pre-K through grade 8. She enjoys writing, and was able to combine her education and STEM backgrounds to develop and write STEM curricula for use all over the world, including the UK, China, and Malaysia. She also has been able to share her passion for STEM by providing professional development to teachers, administrators, and education professionals to help improve awareness and classroom incorporation.

Hope Mukai

Program Manager

Hope holds a BA in Spanish and Biology from the University of Vermont and a M.Ed. in Integrated Teaching through the Arts from Lesley University. After an early career in reproductive endocrinology, she transitioned to teaching high school science and Spanish for 10 years. Hope has traveled extensively in Europe and Central and South America, learning the languages and cultures of those regions. She is passionate about international education, travel and service to deepen her connections with people around the world.

Avery Ward

Assistant Executive Director

Avery attends Colorado Mesa University and will graduate in May 2025 with her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Her future plans are to be a large animal vet. As a future STEM major, she strives to show young girls and women that they can be successful in a male-dominated field. In her free time, Avery teaches young equestrians sportsmanship, basic horse care, and riding skills. She volunteers as the President of her 4H club, and also serves as the Treasurer of the Jefferson County Horse Council.

Dr. Janelle Johnson, Ph.D.

Board Member; Director, Colorado STEM Ecosystem & Professor, MSU Denver

Janelle is the Director of the Colorado STEM Ecosystem and a Professor of STEM Education at MSU Denver. She has been awarded four National Science Foundation grants to date and is the co-editor of STEM21. She led several NSF-funded GLOBE STEM equity bootcamps and consulted for the NASA Langley with their equity efforts. She serves on the editorial boards at AERA, TEEM, and is a reviewer for the NSF. Her nonprofit service includes the board of New York Edge, Morpho Educator Academy, ACESSE project, and CAST.

Kat Kennan

Kat is a disruptor, bestselling author, and entrepreneur, renowned for creating high-impact, customer-focused strategies for CEOs, non-profits, and startups. She specializes in empathy-driven, inclusive marketing through her proprietary Rx Platform™, featuring ContentRx™, CrisisRx™, and CultureRx™. Her company, RCX, is a certified women- and disability-owned business. As a certified trauma-informed professional and public speaker, she has contributed to ANA, Forbes, and SXSW. Additionally, Kat is the founder of the advocacy group Stand Up to Trauma.

George J. Kite, CPA

George is a Certified Public Accountant with over 30 years of experience helping small to
medium sized businesses and individuals with their accounting and tax needs. His services
include representing client before the Internal Revenue Service and State Departments of
Revenue and Employment Security. George specialized in accounting and bookkeeping,
QuickBooks, fiduciary and tax exempt income, business and personal income tax, financial
statements, payroll, payroll taxes, and incorporation services.

Jonathan Krause

Jonathan is the Founder & CEO of Synclarity Consulting that offers business advisory services and executive coaching to startups and small businesses in education, healthcare, and the life sciences. After over 25 years in account management, business development, sales, and training in both the public and private sectors, he founded Synclarity Consulting in 2018 to help companies build more substantial organizations.

Dr. Chrissy Stachl, PhD

Chrissy is a published author and the Founder and CEO of Reflecting Equity, a consulting company dedicated to helping communities foster inclusion and develop equitable policies and practices in their workplace. She hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry from UC Berkeley, and has been leading DEIBA efforts for more than 7 years. She brings her expertise as a scientist, researcher, and educator to her consulting practice.

Dr. Terri Wright, Ph.D.

Assistant Dean for Inclusion, CU Boulder

After completing a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at Hampton University and a doctorate in organometallic chemistry at the University of South Carolina-Columbia, Dr. Terri D. Wright joined Accenture, LTD and worked as a consultant for Fortune 500 companies like Dow Chemical and Exxon Mobil. While she loved problem-solving and collaboration, something was missing. Her passion for interacting with and mentoring students propelled her into full-time teaching and higher education administration, where she thrived working on academic and co-curricular programming, initiating partnerships, building relationships, and creating academic and professional development activities to help underserved students grow personally and succeed academically.

Over the past two decades, Dr. Wright has held leadership positions in academic affairs, research administration, and student support programs and has led U.S. Department of Education and National Science Foundation funded education programs at a number of universities including Morgan State University, University of Maryland, College Park, Howard University, and most recently, The University of Colorado Boulder.
